The archetypical renegade Texas Ranger wages war against a drug kingpin with automatic weapons, his wits and martial arts after a gun battle leaves his partner dead. All of this inevitably culminates a martial arts showdown between the drug lord and the ranger, and involving the woman they both love.
J.J. McQuade is a Texas Ranger who doesn't exactly follow the rules, is unruly, and prefers to work alone, which earns the nickname, Lone Wolf McQuade. When he discovers some criminals have automatic weapons, he discovers that they were stolen from the military. He tries to handle on his own, as usual, but in the end, an old friend, and a prisoner, whom he was keeping under wraps, are killed. He is then relieved of duty. But then an FBI agent, who also wants to get these guys, offers to help McQuade, and along with a rookie, they track down the mastermind.
I watched &quot;Lone Wolf McQuade&quot; because I thought it was suppose to be a Western, but it is just a lousy action-flick with boring plot and worse direction than it could have. David Carradine plays a silly villain and Chuck Norris´ acting just gets worse the longer the story goes.<br/><br/>Rating: 1 of 10.
The incomparable Chuck Norris stars in this highly enjoyable action outing as a tough as nails Texas Ranger who likes to keep a wolf as a pet and drink copious amounts of beer off and ON duty(!) OK, so that&#39;s not the central plot but it does nonetheless serve as an indication of just how damned macho this chap is! Throw in a story involving arms smuggling, revenge, a rookie partner, a beautiful woman plus the presence of perennial bad guy, David Carradine and hey presto, you have a great flick guaranteed….especially if watched whilst emulating the Chuck&#39;ster i.e. whilst slurping on a beer! Special mention must also go to the Ennio Morricone inspired score in this which is quite wonderful and also the rather excellent finale featuring Norris and Carradine squaring off, which is doubtlessly one of Norris&#39; best ever screen fights. Highly recommended.
This is one of the better Norris action films, showcasing his astounding martial-arts skills. But the film loses power toward the end when the action bends reality a little too much.
A nickel plated version would be a Mod 29 nickle, nothing more.
